Indications
Trifene® Suspensão Oral MNSRM contains 20mg/ml ibuprofen as its active substance. Relieves mild to moderate pain and lowers fever. Recommended for children aged 3 months or older, with body weight over 5 kg, adolescents and adults.
Posology
Children: doses should be calculated using body weight. The following list shows an example of a usual dosage. Dosages can be changed according to medical prescription:
- 3 to 6 months (~5-7 kg) - 50 mg (2.5 ml), 3 times a day
- 6 months to 1 year (~7-10 kg) - 50 mg (2.5 ml), 3 to 4 times daily
- 1 to 4 years (~10-16 kg) - 100 mg (5 ml), 3 times a day
- 4 to 7 years (~16-25 kg) - 150 mg (7.5 ml), 3 times a day
- 7 to 10 years (~25-32 kg) - 200 mg (10 ml), 3 times a day
- 10 to 12 years (~25-40 kg) - 300 mg (15 ml), 3 times a day
Adults: although other pharmaceutical forms of ibuprofen are generally used (e.g. ibuprofen 200 mg, 400 mg or 600 mg tablets), when swallowing, Trifene can be administered at a dose of 15 ml to 20 ml (equivalent to 300 mg to 400 mg, respectively) 3 to 4 times a day. For adults and teenagers, the maximum recommended dose is 1200 mg/day.
Contraindications
Do not take this medicine if you (a) are allergic to ibuprofen, any of the components of the tablets, or other anti-inflammatory products commonly used for pain or fever relief; (b) have a history of gastrointestinal bleeding or perforation, related to previous treatment with non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs; (c) have an active peptic ulcer/haemorrhage or have a history of recurrent peptic ulcer/haemorrhage; (d) have severe heart failure or have severe liver or kidney failure; (e) are in the last three months of your pregnancy; (f) are significantly dehydrated; (g) have blood disorders; (h) have chronic alcoholism; (i) have red blood cell disorders of an unknown cause; and (j) your child is under the age of 3 months or weighs less than 5 kg.
TRIFENE 20 mg/ml suspensão oral is an over-the-counter medicine recommended for the treatment of mild to moderate pain and fever, and should be taken for short periods. If you do not feel better or get worse after 3 days, you should see a doctor. Trifene 20 mg/ml oral suspension is indicated for children aged 3 months or older or weighing more than 5 kg, adolescents and adults. Do not take this medicine if you (a) are allergic to ibuprofen, any of the components of the tablets, or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) commonly used for pain or fever relief; (b) have a history of gastrointestinal bleeding or perforation, related to previous treatment with NSAIDs; (c) have an active peptic ulcer/haemorrhage or have a history of recurrent peptic ulcer/haemorrhage; (d) have blood clotting problems, cerebrovascular hemorrhage or other active hemorrhage; (e) have severe heart failure or have severe liver or kidney failure; (f) are in the last three months of your pregnancy; (g) are significantly dehydrated; (h) have blood disorders; (i) have chronic alcoholism; (j) have red blood cell disorders of an unknown cause.
